Kevin Adare

Deacon Chairman

Kevin has been married to his wife Lynn for 36 years. They have 3 children who all grew up in First Baptist Church's Children and Youth Ministries as well as being saved and baptized in FBC. Together their children have blessed him and his wife with 9 grandchildren. Kevin has been a member at FBC Bastrop for 42 years and is blessed to serve as Deacon Chairman, Personnel Committee Chairman, and now, Chairman of the Pastor Search Committee. He also teaches the Adult 2 Sunday School class.

 

Kevin asks for prayer for God's guidance over this committee as we seek the man He has already set aside for us.

Ollie Jo Bozeman

Secretary

Ollie Jo Bozeman has two adult sons and two grandchildren. She joined First Baptist Church Bastrop in 2006. Ollie Jo currently serves as a member of the Finance Committee and the Hospitality Committee. Ollie Jo sings in the choir and helps to lead worship on the Praise Team. She volunteers with VBS and as a day worker in the kitchen at Kidz Kamp. She is honored to serve on the Pastor Search Committee.

 

Ollie Jo asks that you pray for her and the committee as we work through this process to select the man God has chosen to be our next pastor.

Elizabeth Sizemore

Communication Secretary

Elizabeth has been a member of First Baptist Church of Bastrop since 2006 when her family moved to Bastrop. She attends FBC with her parents, siblings, and grandpa. She grew up through our Children's and Youth Ministires and started volunteering when she was in youth. Elizabeth currently serves in many areas of our church including Children's Ministry as the Pre-K VBS Leader and a lifeguard at Kidz Kamp every summer, the Sunday morning Media Team, and in our Young Adults Minsitry.

 

Elizabeth asks the church begins to pray with excitement, and not sadness or fear, as we walk through this transition. Change can be hard but often it is a good thing!

David McCall

David and his wife, Carolyn, have been members of First Baptist Church Bastrop since 2012.  They moved here to be near their daughter, Megan, her husband and six wonderful grandchildren. David's activities in the church are primarily in the Music Ministry (his passion) as a member of the Church Choir and Praise Team and in assisting our Worship Leader.  He also serve on the Building and Grounds Committee, Hospitality Committee, Sound Committee, and as a member of the FBC Church Council. 

David's prayer request is to ask you to lift up all members of our committee as we submit to God’s will, and allow Him to use us as He sees fit in this process.

Kimberly Burns

Kimberly has been married to Elisha for 21 years. They have one son, Caleb. They have attended FBC Bastrop since 2010 and became members in October 2011. Kimberly has served FBC Bastrop on the Finance Committee from 2015-2021, she has been a Kidz Kamp Lifeguard since 2012, has helped with Jr.High Missions, VBS, and is currently serving the FBC Youth. Kimberly also sings in the choir and helps lead worship on the Praise Team.

 

Please be in prayer, as we step into this new chapter of FBC Bastrop, that our hearts will be open to the direction God is leading our church.

Joe Martina

Joe Martina has been married to his wife, Judi, for 48 years. We have 2 adult sons that are both married. Judi and I have been members of First Baptist Church since 2018. Joe assisted in the construction of the new stage, he is an usher, a member of the finance committee, and the Adult 1 Sunday school teacher.

 

Please pray that the Lord will guide the Pastor Search Committee to the man that He has already chosen to be our next pastor.

Roger Westbrook

Roger and his wife, Debbie, are blessed to call First Baptist Church home for close to six years now. Over the years Roger has been blessed to be a children’s Sunday school leader, a leader in R.A.s, and outside the church a Boy Scout leader. For the past two years he has been privileged to be called to serve as a deacon in our church, and now serving on the pastor search committee.

 

Roger is requesting your prayers for himself and for the committee going forward as they seek God’s will to find the man He has already chosen to serve as our pastor for the future.

Donald North

Alternate Chairman

Donald has been married to Cynda Kay for 54 years. Don has been a member of First Baptist Church since 2017 and has served as a Deacon since 2018. Don was a bus driver, and is now serving as an Usher, a member of Safety & Security Team, and the Hospitality Committee. Don managed the installation of security cameras, and assisted with the construction of the new stage.

 

Please pray for Raymond and Sue as they move on to a new stage of life.

Jennifer Guajardo

Jennifer is the proud mother of 3 children: Cristina, Rebekah, and Diego. They have been members at FBC Bastrop since 2020. Jennifer currently serves as a praise team and choir member as well as Youth Sponsor. Although she has been here for a short time, she has been privileged to serve in church ministry for over 20 years as a Sunday School Director and teacher, VBS director, Worship leader, youth sponsor, and praise team and choir member.

 

Please join Jennifer in praying for our new Pastor, our transition at FBC, and Dr. Edge and his new chapter in retirement.

Rodney Davis

Alternate

Rodney has been married to his wife, Debbie, for 27 years. They have one daughter, Veronika. Rodney has been a member of FBC since 1999. Rodney is one of our newest deacons. He also serves as an usher, in the church choir, and assist when needed in children's ministry and the kitchen.


Rodney asks for prayers for this Pastor Search Committee and the church body in the upcoming weeks and months, for wisdom and guidance to choose the one the Lord has directed to our church for transitional ministers, interim and permanent pastor.

Purpose: Our Purpose is to find God's man to preach His word, lead our church, care for the family, and reach our community.

Current and Continuing Prayer Needs and Updates:

  • 11/19: The Pastor Search Committee is continuing in their pursuit of the one man God is leading them towards as our next pastor. Our search process continues to move in a positive and exciting direction towards God's plan and we continue to seek His guidance in all decisions we are making along the path.

    The Committee is excited about the changes that are coming and we encourage the church to prepare their hearts for a season of great change at FBC coming soon.

  • 11/5: The Pastor Search Committee reviewed feedback on our Pastor candidate from several references, those references are from trusted pastors and seminary professors. We also debriefed a committee member's visit to the candidate's current church. We also continued discussion on the Pastor pay package and job description.
    Our search process continues to move in a positive and exciting direction towards God's plan and we continue to seek His guidance in all decisions we are making along the path!
       
  • 10/15: The Pastor Search Committee completed a second interview with our Pastor candidate. This was a productive meeting and the committee is excited about the future of FBC.  
  • 10/1: The Pastor Search Committee began to discuss and update the Pastor job description, as well as continuning to discuss the Pastor pay package. We also prepared for our ongoing interviews with our Pastor candidate.     
  • 9/17: The Pastor Search Committee has narrowed down their candidate list and will begin second interviews to get to know the candidates better and to allow them to get to know our church better. Continue praying for God’s man for fbc and our committee as they continue to follow God’s leading.
  • 8/20: The Pastor Search Committee has narrowed down their candidate list to the top handful of candidates and will begin to make personal contact with each man to get to know them more. We are excited for this next phase of the Pastor Search and are looking forward to the future at FBC!
  • 8/6: The Pastor Search Committee continued their preliminary review of the candidate resumes and questionnaires that have been submitted so far. We continue to pray over each candidate and will continue to receive resumes from our recommendees until August 12. Our committee continues to spend many hours looking at resumes, reading questionnaire responses, and listening to sermons to better prepare for the next steps of our search process.
  • 7/16: The Pastor Search Committee began to discuss how we will prayerfully review each of our remaining candidates as we receive more information about their past ministry and Biblical views in order to continue to narrow down our list towards further focusing in on God's chosen man for FBC. We are continuing to walk in faith and seek God's guidance through prayer as we look for God's man and not ours. 
  • 7/1: Since our last meeting the Pastor Search Committee has prayerfully considered and researched each of the 47 recommendations that we received. At our most recent meeting we met together to discuss each candidate and unanimously chose 26 men to move into the next phase of our screening process. This next phase includes receiving resumes and sermons samples from each candidate willing to continue on in the process as well as a prelimimnary questionnaire from each man answering key questions about their faith and ministry. We are asking that the requested resources be turned in by each candidate to the committee by August 12. 
  • 6/13: The Pastor Search Committee began their initial review of the recommendations we have received over the last month. Each committee member will pray over each individual recommendation before our July 1st meeting. 
  • 6/4: The Pastor Search Committee met and received an update on the continuing process of receiving trusted recommendations for our next Senior Pastor. The Pastor Search Committee is waiting patiently in prayer as we continue to receive recommendations and we look forward to reviewing all of them soon.
  • 5/21: The Pastor Search Committee continued researching and evaluating a potential salary package for our next pastor. The committee also began to expand their knowledge on what the search process will look like after we have closed our recommendation period to prepare for our future task of evaluating the recommendations.
  • 5/7: As we announced to the church in our business meeting on 4/17, the Pastor Search Committee began receiving recommendations for our next Senior Pastor on May 1. These recommendations will be gathered through June 10. 
    The committee met to begin the work of creating a job description for the Senior Pastor position as well as to begin the work of building his salary package. Continue to pray with us as we gather recommendations that God will show us his chosen man for FBC.
  • 4/16: The Pastor Search Committee finalized our three profiles to soon send out to potential pastoral candidates. We finalized our Concert of Prayer plan and are praying that this will be a powerful service for all members of our church community. We are feeling hopeful about where we are in our search process and looking forward to the future of FBC.  
  • 4/2: The Pastor Search Committee continued to develop our three profiles that will soon be given to potential pastor candidites as they prayerfully consider submitting their resume for our consideration. 
  • 3/31: The Pastor Search Committee is excited to announce that we have prayerfully considered and selected First Baptisit Church's Tranistion Pastor, Steve Washburn!
    Steve will lead our church through his preaching on Sunday mornings as well as supporting our office staff on Tuesdays. We are looking forward to seeing what God does at FBC with Steve's help and guidance in our transition.
  • 3/19: The Pastor Search Committee continued to work on our three profiles that will be provided to potential pastor candidates when we begin accepting resumes. Additionally, we began planning our upcoming special prayer service in April.
  • 3/5: The Pastor Search Committee finalized details for the approaching hire of our Transitional Pastor. The committee also discussed how the church can be encouraged to take action now on some needed ministry areas that came to light through our three Listening Sessions. 
  • 2/20: The Pastor Search Committee began drafting the Three Profiles that are an important part of our Pastor Search. The committee is excited to hear from the church during our final listening session on Sunday. We have seen clear themes emerging in our members hopes and dreams for our church's new era.
  • 2/6: The Pastor Search Committee spent time looking at the data collected from the Church Health Survey. Church members are invited to join the Pastor Search Committee for the final two listening session, we want to hear your hopes and dreams for the future of FBC. The information from our survey and listening session will help the committee create profiles to be important parts of our search process.
  • 1/16: The Church Health Survey is still available for church members who have not yet completed the survey. It will remain open until January 31st. Church members are invited to join the Pastor Search Committee for one of the upcoming Listening Sessions on January 28, February 11, and February 25. These session will give members a chance to share their hopes and dreams for the future of FBC with the committee.
  • 1/2: The Church Health Survey will be opened for the church to complete on Monday, January 8th. The survey link will be available by church-wide email, social media, and on this webpage.    
  • 12/19: The Pastor Search Committee continued to plan the upcoming church survey. The committee discussed future Church Listening Sessions for continued, indepth learning from the FBC church family to guide the committee's work. 
  • 12/17: The Pastor Search Committee has announced to the church the Pulpit Supply plan through March 31, 2024. The following men will be blessing our church with weekly Sunday sermons: Steve Washburn (January 7-21), Rick Perkins (January 28 - February 11), Randy Bales (February 18 - March 3), and Wiatt Warren (March 10-17). (Special programming is planned for March 24th and Easter Sunday, March 31st.) Please join the Pastor Search Committee in praying for these men as they come alongside our church in our transition period.
  • 12/5: The Pastor Search Committee created a plan for continued Pulpit Supply to be announced to the church soon. The committee also reviewed the Church Health Survey to be shared in January.
  • 11/21: The Pastor Search Committee met and continued the discussion on the transitional pastorate and the church health survey.
  • 11/7: The Pastor Search Committee met and discussed the transitional pastorate and the church health survey.
  • 10/17: The Pastor Search Committee met to continue the discussion to find FBC's transition pastor.

    The Pastor Search Committee is inviting the FBC Family to our FBC Family Meeting on October 29, 2023 starting at 1:30pm.
       
  • 10/3: The Pastor Search Committee will host a FBC family meeting on October 29, 2023, at 1:30pm-3:30pm, to answer the church's questions focused on our pastor search process and procedures, church transition, and how we are moving forward in this new season at FBC.

  • 9/19: The Pastor Search Committee has created a plan to fill the pulpit through the end of 2023.

    Please continue to pray for wisdom and guidance for each member of your Pastor Search Team.
  • 9/5: The Pastor Search Committee decided that Steve Ponder, a retired pastor and current member of FBC Bastrop, will fill the pulpit after October 1, when Dr. Edge preaches his last sermon, through the end of October. The Pastor Search Committee is creating a plan to fill the pulpit after October 29.

    Beginning October 1, the church will be invited to particpate in a monthly direction for prayer.
  • 8/23: The Pastor Search Committe has held their first meeting and will now begin meeting every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month.
